Historical Demonstrations of Flax Production

the Flax to Linen Process

From Seed to Cloth

For Museums Schools and Heritage events

Before the modern age cloth had to be made by hand from the raw materials derived from animals or plants

This involved a huge amount of hard physical work, detailed specialist knowledge , dexterity and skill

We demonstrate in a Historical context the production of linen from flax from seed to cloth in a fun and informative way involving our audience in the experience.

Demonstrations can be tailored to suit almost any time period and can be combined with other living history displays such as food production, the wool trade or just aspects of daily life in the chosen period.

Our most popular character is called Njal he grows and trades in flax in the year 1023.
